OTD
Development of a tenant-ready platform for car dealers including digital strategy, wireframing, prototype development, e-commerce design (UI/UX) and software development.
Initial situation
The customer approached ACID21 GmbH with the problem that no adequate solution existed. The challenge was to create a flexible software architecture for over 40 dealers and 100,000 customers in Germany. The key criteria for success were a component-based architecture, fine-grained modularisation for individual client adaptations and precise vehicle identification. The tasks to be mastered included the integration of different data sources, real-time delivery planning and constant adjustments to changing dealer processes. This required both technical expertise and a deep understanding of the operational requirements of the market.
The project at a glance
- Development of a tenant-enabled platform for automotive dealers to provide them with common regional multi-brand service portals for the automotive aftermarket, enabling the following use cases, among others:
- B2B customers (mainly garages) can buy parts and services from different dealers via a single platform
- Integration of industry-standard vehicle and parts identification services
- Optimisation of aftersales and fulfilment processes - in particular the delivery of parts from different dealers via a single delivery to the customer
What were the challenges?
Multiregion marketplace for original automotive spare parts
The multi-region marketplace for original automotive spare parts is a pioneering platform in the automotive sector. From the initial idea to the final realisation, ACID21 offers a full service: we took care of the complete development, including conception, UI/UX design and web development. This B2B multi-region marketplace is not limited to one region, but offers dealers and business partners from different regions a platform to trade and procure original spare parts efficiently. Our comprehensive services guarantee a user-friendly and effective solution for all stakeholders in the spare parts business.
Cross-brand ordering platform
A number of brand dealers are networked in a special online ordering solution within a region. The platform enables independent garages to order spare parts from various brands, such as VW, BMW and Mercedes, centrally. After an order is placed, the respective brand dealers prepare the requested parts. In a coordinated process, a selected brand dealer then collects the parts from the other dealers. The spare parts are then delivered to the independent workshops via an optimised route to ensure efficiency and speed.
Conclusion - the advantages of the new solution
The introduction of a digital platform brings immense benefits for independent workshops. Previously, they had to contact dealers by phone to order spare parts, which often led to incorrect orders and consequently to returns. Now, thanks to entering the chassis number and parts identification via the VIN number, workshops always receive the right spare parts, thereby avoiding returns. Special highlights of this solution include an app with route tracking and a spare parts search using VIN identification. Individual price regulations per brand and customised discount groups can also be defined. The ultimate goal: it enables dealers to digitalise their sales channel and leads to significant sales growth.
